It's about perspective. Make a daily practice of a seeing the larger perspective in life. It's easy to get lost in the emotional trappings of the moment to moment situations. If you practice looking inward and seeing why it is you are having certain experiences/ feelings over and over you can begin asking the questions on why it is you are drawing it into your life. What is that serving? What story line are you living out and from what era of your life was it created. Are you living your full potential if you are unaware that you are, in fact, creating your reality? Each one of us has been and will continue to. We may as well do it consciously.

Homework: In all the forms of reality there is a sequencing from the most dense in manifestation to the most subtle and visa versa. Within our own selves we have that same experience. The deeper we go the more challenging to see and to even understand.. Yet it is there right outside of the light of our consciousness. The homework is to notice when you react to something and then ask the question why. Why did I have that specific reaction? Follow that train of thought into the unknown often and see what consistencies you run into.

Samskara is the most valuable concept I've gained from my 20 years of practicing yoga. As I live my life I seek out where I am running an old pattern and on the mat I slow my nervous system enough to not get caught in the energetic experience of my past karmic ties... That being said, at some point we must choose a different way of being after the initial reaction to life. May we all find the strength and desire for freedom.

Homework: This reality is a never ending or stopping "now" experience. I call this the cutting edge of reality. This is as far as reality has gone and we are on the for front of that experience. Your homework is to stay connected as much as possible to this experience. See how many moments you can connect together of this "now" throughout the week. Why? So that we may choose each moment what we are to do now and in the next. So that we may break samskara; our samskara, our cultural samskara, and our family lineages samskara.

Every time I talk to a friend and they are having a similar experience and react in a totally different way I'm forced to look at my belief systems.. What if most of our reactions that cause us pain or cause us to judge others are misconceptions created in our early life and can be processed through and let go of? Isn't that exactly what yoga and it's work around samskara is all about? yep, yep it is.

For example, if you only sleep an hour or two at night and then drink 4 cups of coffee to balance your energy, you may feel off. If you are feeling off and something in your outer world is off in concept, if you don't watch it you can find yourself blaming the external circumstance for your inner experience (not realizing that it is the mixture of no sleep and caffeine). It happens just as often that we are off internally and grasp onto things in our external world to justify the inner feelings.. got it?    We are losing intimacy day by day, choose to take part in human connection. We all need it. ]]>

When someone says "Oh you shouldn't feel that way" don't listen to them. Whatever it is that you are feeling is exactly right. It takes effort and deep patience to know the karma of our responses. How we respond to any given situation is not always going to line up, be accurate, or make sense to others.. heck even ourselves at that. Remember that emotions and feeling are a major part of each one of our inner guidance systems. They will always be here for a reason. Our work is to decipher whether those reasons are aligned with the present or our samskara.

At the same time, most of us are taking part in the work force and having practices of one kind or another "on the side". What is the balance with work/ play/ spiritual practice that best works for you? For me a 9-5 feels crushing, I feel like my life is dictated by work rather than work being a part of my life. I have found that I thrive more in life with several part time gigs that make up my financial life, yet without the consistency of the 9-5 I struggle getting my practice in.
     What is your balance? what do you do to make time? Have you found a good work/ life/ spiritual practice balance?
